    Happy Mothers’ Day

We may fail to engage in Chinese traditional New Year, but never miss the Mothers’ Day.  Just want to take a minute to wish all the mothers out there a happy Mothers’ Day.  Without our mothers, none of us would be there.  You make the world go round!  I today made a mobile phone call to my mother, and she was quite excited in spite of my absence at home.  I cannot spend so important a day with my mother, and can even not buy her a bunch of flowers, carnations.  Alas!  Love you for ever, Mom!

And I read the followings, and think these are cute and touching, so I want to share them:

    1.         WHY GOD GAVE US MOTHERS
(answers given by elementary school-age children)

    How did God make mothers?
1)Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
2)God made my Mom just the same as He made me.  He just used bigger parts

Why did God give you and your mother and not some other Mom?
    1) We're related
    2) God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me

What kind of little girl was your Mom?
    1) I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
    2) They say she used to be nice.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?
    1) She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean.  I'd get rid of that
    2) I'd make my Mom smarter.  Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me

What does your Mom do in her spare time?
    1) Mothers don't do spare time
    2) To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

Why did your Mom marry your Dad?
    1) My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world.  And my Mom eats a lot.
    2) She got too old to do anything else with him.
    3) My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

    2.         M-O-T-H-E-R

“M” is for the million things she gave me,
“O” means only that she's growing old,
“T” is for the tears she shed to save me,
    “H” is for her heart of purest gold;
“E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
“R” means right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell
    “MOTHER”,
A word that means the world to me.

           (Howard Johnson (c. 1915))

    3.         POEM COMPOSED BY MENG JIAO IN TANG DYNASTY

        慈母手中线,游子身上衣。

        临行密密缝,意恐迟迟归。

        谁言寸草心,报得三春晖?

                  (《游子吟》)
